Lyrics from the CD "Fire Girl"

Fire Girl

Oh you’re a hot one

Yeah you’re a wild one

You’re the only one

Yeah you’re the right one

You got a big red flame

Lord you know you got my name

You light the world on fire

Yeah you are my one desire

Yeah you’re my fire girl I loved you from the start

You’re just lookin’ for the smoke comin’ from my heart

You’re my fire girl, and you found my spark

Well you found me cold you wanna leave me hot

That fire hydrants pumpin’ and you won’t hit the spot

Well keep on missin’ baby y’know I like it a lot

Cause my soul’s lit on fire like a mountaintop

You drive a big red truck

It’s shiny and polished up

I need you to come to me

Wow it’s an emergency

Yeah you’re my fire girl I loved you from the start

You’re just lookin’ for the smoke comin’ from my heart

You’re my fire girl, and you’re comin’ home to me

Wow my little fire girl

yeah you’re comin’ down that pole baby

You’re my sweet little fire girl

and you’re comin’ to save me

Yeah you wear them little yellow pants baby

You find a fire and do a little dance

Wooooh my fire girl

You found my spark

….yeah little yellow pants… c’mon!

New John Deere

My baby don’t want diamonds and all them fancy things

She don’t want a bently or new mercedes benz

She’ll hold off on new counter tops or remodel on the house

No new lazy boy for me no new chairs and no new couch

She said honey if you’re thinkin’ you’re buy me anything,

Ya damn well better make sure that thing is yellow and it’s green

She want’s a new John Deere she wants a new John Deere

She’s gotta have that fancy window cab with the air conditioned too

Got the radio and a 4 wheel drive 90 horses boys it ain’t no jive

She won’t allow no orange or blue around here

No my baby’s made it awful loud and clear

I even told her I’d take her to spain to see the runnin’ of the bulls

She said anybody who’d spend money like that’d be a certifiable fool

I said I’d buy her an airplane and take her on a trip

I’d Fly her around the country tastin’ wine sip by sip

She said honey if you’re thinkin’ you’re buy me anything,

Ya damn well better make sure that thing is yellow and it’s green

She want’s a new John Deere wants a new John Deere

Yeah well you can’t roller skate in a buffalo herd

She said I’ll drive on down them rows and throw that dust a mile high

She’s gonna dig that disc into the ground and throw the dirt clods in the sky

She’ll hook up to them trailers and bring that harvest in

It’s the very very best time of year when the green comes rollin’ in

She’s gonna spend all her money on a yellow and green machine

She said honey are you startin’ now to see just what I mean

She wants a new John Deere she wants a new john deere that’s all she wants

Gotta have that fancy window cab with the air conditioned too

Got the radio and a 4 wheel drive 90 horses boys it ain’t no jive

She won’t allow no orange or blue around here

No my baby’s made it awful loud and clear

She wants a new john deere

No orange or blue gotta have brand new

She wants a new john deere

Yeah!

Studebaker Dream

I grew up on the south end of town right by the thunderbird motel and that old french plow, my granddaddy rode in the field by the house

I had a hard tire bike rode through the vineyards alone, puncture vines and thorns I never went on home, I’d ride to the house, at the end of Norgard Lane

Studebakers and chevys and busted down fords, lined up on the riverbank like some modern fijords, the waters runnin’ through, right through the passenger doors

Me and my buddy Frankie we’d stand on the hoods, we’d ride em’ just like cowboys like nobody could, days seemed like a month, in the hot august sun

Oh It was freedom for the boy, It was freedom like a song

Yeah It was freedom for the boy, but those days are gone

My Daddy told stories bout when he was a kid, he’d catch steelhead all day but I never did, I wondered what had happened, they just all went away

When I was 10 years old I got a new mini bike, a yellow honda 50 with a white pinstripe,  Hell I’d ride like the wind right down them railroad tracks

Robinson Creek became my secret home under that trestle bridge I was always alone, Tellin’ stories of my future to the wind but no one was home

Oh It was freedom for the boy, It was freedom like a song

Yeah It was freedom for the boy, but those days are gone.

32 Acres

I got a 100 foot tree, leanin’ over the barn I live in

I got a wagon from the horses all the way back to 1910

Got the ghost of Gene Cinquini ridin’ a horse in the sky

He’s got a 10 gallon hat and got a diamond in one eye

I got 32 acres  the south side of Talmage

I got 32 acres on the south side of Talmage bench

I got a 100 year old vineyard still putting out some wine

I got grapes that are growin’ I don’t even know what kind

Yeah yellow steel tubs holdin’ 10 tons each

Grapes are so tall and they’re all out of reach

I got 32 acres south side of Talmage

I got 32 acres on the south side of Talmage bench

Earrings in the trees and 100 foot long tables

Swear I ain’t lyin’ lord it ain’t no fable

Chandeliers in the hay loft throwin’ darts in the stable got

32 acres on south side of Talmage bench

32 acres on the south side of Talmage bench

I got an 80 year old crawler runnin’ through the 8 x 8

My Granddaddy bought it back in 1938

She’s got a little pony motor to start the big one up

Crankin’ and a grindin’ as she’s warmin’ up

She’s just purrin’ like a kitten and eatin’ that diesel up

She’s just a purrin’ like a kitten eatin’ that diesel up

I got 2 brown dogs runnin’, chasin’ them rabbits down

They’re runnin’ 40 miles an hour, half way to town

Got a 100 lbs. of chicken on a rock stone screen

Come and get your plate fill it up with some beans

I got 32 acres south side of Talmage

I got 32 acres on the south side of Talmage bench

Earrings in the trees and 100 foot long tables

Swear I ain’t lyin’ lord it ain’t no fable

Chandeliers in the hay loft throwin’ darts in the stable got

32 acres south side of Talmage bench

32 acres on the south side of Talmage

32 acres, I got 32 acres, I got 32 acres on the south side of  Talmage

I got 32 acres, yeah got 32 acres, I got 32 acres on the south side of Talmage bench

32 acres on the south side of Talmage.

Boston

She gave up something precious, left California on a summer day

Workin’ in a storefront, with her first child on the way

In her white long coat she floated, like an angel seeking refuge far away

That new England sunrise woke her up, to help her see it through another day

All my troubles seemed to fade away at night

All the love she gave it was so right

Yes I spent the night in Boston and it,

Feels like a hundred years ago

Yes I spent the night in Boston and it, feels like a hundred years ago

Mass Ave up to Brookline, I walked alone in the snow

That ol’ Greenline down to Fenway, them rail cars all in a row

Oh my music it saved me, where I’d be I don’t know

All my troubles seemed to fade away at night

All the love she gave it was so right

Yes I spent the night in Boston and it,

Feels like a hundred years ago

Oh that reservoir was frozen, and all the trees had turned to clay

And that ice was gettin’ deeper than the massachusetts bay…

Yes I spent the night in Boston and it, feels like a hundred years ago

She was my angel all those years in Boston

All them back bay recollections, my memories wait there in the snow

All the love, all the love she gave it was so right

Yes I spent the night in Boston, and it feels like a hundred years ago

Yes it, feels like a hundred years,… ago.

 Cold steel

I traveled so far, it’s been so long

I lost some friends, sang so many songs

When the warm wind blows, all my memories home

The ones that feel like stone, that help me stand alone

When a vision comes, when it dances like money

When it laughs like fire, and it tastes like honey

When it holds my soul, when it grabs it tight

When it sing my songs like an eagle flies

I’ll be ready for that blow, from that hammer when it lands

Cause I feel like cold steel, in a blacksmith’s hands

Like a shootin’ star in flight, that’s never gonna land

Yes I feel like cold steel in a blacksmith’s hands

I see the new world come, it’s comin’ sure and slow

Like my lovers soul, the only one I know

Just like an angels dress, blowin’ in the wind

Like her sweet caress, that‘ll never end

In a moonlit night, lighter than the day

Before the dawn began, it took my soul away

When I sing my song, to the angels in the sky

I’ll leave it all behind, I’ll kiss it all good bye….

I’ll be ready for that blow from that hammer when it lands

Cause I feel like cold steel, in a blacksmith’s hands

Like a shootin’ star in flight, that’s never gonna land

Yes I feel like cold steel in a blacksmith’s hands

I’ll be ready for that blow from that hammer when it lands

Cause I feel like cold steel, in a blacksmith’s hands

Like a shootin’ star in flight, that’s never gonna land

Yes I feel like cold steel in a blacksmith’s hands….

In a blacksmith’s hands.

Hi Ho Silver

She’s travelin’ down the highway of an ordinary life

Tryin’ to find a token to help her finally get it right

She’s risky and she’s wreckless, wears tatoo’s and wranglers tight

Drives a pink el camino drinks jack daniels late at night

Now she likes Merle Haggard Waylon Jennings and Emmylou

She sings along with love songs and hopes her dreams will all come true

Hi Ho Silver said the rider in the meadows of her dreams

She just keeps on hopin’ things ain’t really what they seem

Spinnin’ round a thousand times and faster in her head

She puts her hands upon her face and slowly goes to bed

The evenin’ wind is blowin’ and the rain is comin’ in

The shutters on the windows, are lookin awful thin

In her insufficient misery, she’s countin’ all the years

But life unchanged keeps movin’ on as she holds back all the tears

Then she gives it one last hope, stares at the pictures on the wall

Then the bottle rolled down slowly from her arms out in the hall

Hi Ho Silver said the rider in the meadows of her dreams

She just keeps on hopin’ things aint really what they seem

Spinnin’ round a thousand times and faster in her head

She puts her hands upon her face and slowly goes to bed

Hi Ho Silver said the rider in the meadows of her dreams

She just keeps on hopin’ things ain’t really what they seem

Spinnin’ round a thousand times and faster in her head

She puts her hands upon her face and slowly goes to bed

She puts her hands upon her face and slowly goes to bed.

Barcelona

Whisper softly in my pillow holdin’ tightly all my dreams

Walking slowly in the rain

Barcelona she waits for us to swim away

It sits there on the right side of my brain

I just need a few more pictures to define

Barcelona I’ve been there in my mind

Once I walked across a river when the evenin’ light was shining

So brightly in my eyes

The stars were open to the moment when silence spoke in volumes

And the universe was blind

I just need a few more pictures to define

Barcelona I’ve been there in my mind

Run away with me

Won’t you come away with me

Woa run away with me

Barcelona I’ve been there in my mind

Barcelona she waits for us to swim away

It sits there on the right side of my brain.

Ol’ 52

Well I’m rollin down to Hopland in my 52’ pickup truck

She’s a pink little beauty 325 bucks

She’s got a black leather seat step sides as long as a boat

Jump in with me baby I’m just simple folk

Headin’ down to Hopland in my 52’ pickup truck

She’s got a 235 sittin’ right there under the hood

I got 2 windows down man that AC’s feelin’ real good

I’m goin’ through Largo with my radio on

Playing Hank and Earl I’m just singin along

Goin’ down to Hopland in my 52 pickup truck

Well My baby’s on my lap and she’s honkin’ my horn headin’ to the bluebird for some chicken and corn rollin’ down to Hopland in my 52 pickup truck

Well I’m rollin’ down to Hopland and that sherrif he was on my trail

Yeah I ran him off the road boxes flyin’ with all that mail

When he dispatched in he said you won’t believe

She’s a pink little beauty lord she’s somethin’ to see

I’m rollin’ down to Hopland and that sherrif he was on my trail

Yeah I’m goin’ to the bluebird for some chicken and corn

Got my baby on my lap and she’s honkin’ my horn

I’m rollin’ down to Hopland in my 52’ pickup truck

Yes rollin’ down to Hopland in my 52’ GMC

She’s a pink little beauty lord she’s somethin’ to see..

Duke

I walked off the train, shortly after noon

I spotted her, standing all alone

Her golden hair was long, she held out her hand

Her eyes knew more than I, she pointed down the road

Then we walked until, we saw a place I knew

Called the watering hole

As the music played, the door it opened up

The stage had ink on walls, the children filled my cup

The saxophones were loud, Basie laughed with me

The right place found it’s way, then Duke played revelry

By then I felt so free, then she walked me down

That long and narrow road, there she looked at me

I stopped to drink a while, from the watering hole

Where my life I found, then she answered me

Oh so quietly, then she said to me

I held the answer’s key

Then Duke played revelry.
